West Northamptonshire Council has joined the UK Network of Age-friendly Communities. To support this, we would like to establish an Older Person’s Network whose members will contribute to a steering group for the programme, to help devise projects and activities that can help people remain active, healthy and independent as they get older. Please see below for narrative that can be shared. We would appreciate any help you could provide in identifying people who would be interested in playing a role in this.

People aged 50 and over are invited to join a community-led network for Older People in West Northamptonshire.

Residents are being sought to get involved in sharing their views and shaping an Older Persons’ Network that will play a part in having its say on local services across the area.

As a member of the UK Network of Age-friendly Communities, there is a commitment to helping people stay active, connected and independent for longer, and residents’ voices can help shape an Age-friendly Community Action Plan.

West Northamptonshire Council is also helping to support and facilitate work to establish community-led networks as part of its Public Sector Equality duty. Community groups and residents interested in setting up a different community network group are encouraged to get in touch.
