On Saturday, 17th August I am organising a long distance running event – The Foxton Hound Ultra, where runners traverse the Harborough Round long distance footpath through Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.
There are two distances that participants can choose from – 50k and 100k, and the 50k route passes through Clipston.
The 50k race starts at 8am from Winwick Hall, and Clipston is 27k into the route.
For the safety of our runners, and to ensure they don’t get lost, we place small yellow and black arrow signs along the road sections of the routes, so you may see a few appear through the village when we are marking the routes on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th August.
We would be grateful if you could use your social media accounts, and/or your website, to let residents of your village know about the race and to ask them to leave any arrow signs in place.
We will ensure that these signs are removed by Monday, 19th August at the very latest.
This is not a mass participation event, with less than 120 runners involved (approximately 80 in the 50k and 40 in the 100k), and, as these are long distance races, runners will be very spread out in ones and twos after only a matter of kilometres. So, there won’t be a mass of runners passing through the village all at one time.
More information on the race and the routes can be found on our website: https://raceharborough.co.uk/foxton-hound-ultra/
