Shambala Festival August 2024

RESIDENTS LETTER Shambala Festival August 2024

Published: 28 June 2024

Dear Local Resident
I am writing to let you know that Shambala Festival is returning to the grounds of Kelmarsh Hall on the
August Bank Holiday weekend, 22nd – 26th August. It will be our 15th year on the estate. Shambala is a familyfriendly festival of arts and culture, internationally renowned for creativity, independence, and sustainability.
Working with the local community
We are very grateful for the support and involvement of the local community. We have always been
committed to managing the festival responsibly, with regards to the environment, local community, and
businesses. We are proud to be continuing to work with local Parish councils and the amazing voluntary team
behind the community run ‘NOSH’ café at the festival. In 2023 they raised £18,000 profit for local projects
such as essential maintenance of village halls, youth work projects and services for a range of community
groups!
The festival contributes a great deal to the area, financially and culturally. We are committed to working with
local business wherever possible, such as buying food from local growers as a priority. After a pilot in 2023,
we are pleased to be offering festival packages to those who could not otherwise afford a festival experience,
though a dedicated ticket platform – Tickets For Good. 50% are earmarked for local postcodes.
Noise Management
We continue to make every effort to ensure that the event is not a nuisance for the local community. We work
with Daventry District Council and a noise consultancy to monitor and manage sound 24 hours a day. We
understand how frustrating noise can be. Please work with us, sound often acts strangely and a change of wind,
for example, can dramatically affect the way noise travels. We really appreciate the dialogue and broad support
we have built up with local residents and we will continue to act on any feedback and do our very best. In 2024
we have replaced one of our main nighttime venues in an effort to reduce the potential of off-site noise.
If you are disturbed by noise during the event, you can ring our on-site events office 24 hours a day on the
number below. We will be able to respond to your concerns quickly, directly, and more effectively than
contacting the Council. Environmental Health Officers are working with us at the event to monitor noise.
RESIDENT HOTLINE: 01858 408220
Please note that this number will become operational from Monday 19th August (9am – 5pm) and will
become 24hr during the event: Thursday 22nd Midday until Monday 26th Midday.
Please feel free to email directly to chris@shambalafestival.org with any queries, concerns in advance of the
event. We’re happy to hear about great ideas too.
Best wishes.
Chris Johnson (Festival Co-Director)
