Message from Anglian Water Policy and Public Affairs Water supply disruption – 26th October
I’m pleased to let you know that the remaining two bursts were successfully repaired by our teams overnight. The pressure in the network was then carefully brought back up to normal levels and everything is now operating as we’d expect.
Customers may notice that their water looks cloudy or discoloured, this is nothing to worry about – it can happen after an interruption to water supply, it’s either air in the water or iron sediment that has been stirred up. It’s completely safe to drink and will clear after running the tap for a short while.
All customers in the affected area received a delivery of bottled water. We will now look at data from the monitors across our network to see if any customers are entitled to compensation. As per Ofwat’s Guaranteed Standards Scheme, compensation may be due for interruptions lasting over 12 hours. Credit will automatically be applied to any eligible accounts within 20 working days, but if customers believe they are entitled to compensation which they haven’t received after 20 days, they should give us a call on 03457 145 145.
Because of the recent issues in this area, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the pressure across the network to make sure everything continues to work as it should.
Once again, we’re very sorry this has happened again and caused disruption in this area. We’d like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we worked to get things back to normal.
